The International Event

For three days, Cahors became the capital of Malbec. Producers from the Cahors area and from Argentina presented their wines on the historical bridge of Cahors. Authors and VIP from France and Argentina spoke about Malbec.

Croix du Mayne 2005 among the Top 100 wines of Wine Spectator

The Wine Spectator just published the list of its Top 100 Wines for 2008. Congratulations to Croix du Mayne 2005 of Francis Pélissié for being one of the nominees: the Cahors estate is nr. 53 with 90 points!

This exciting news confirm that Cahors wines are now recognized on the major markets. In September, Decanter Magazine in UK had already ranked an other Cahors wine, Château Pineraie, among the top best wines of the world.

Is Cahors wine really black?

On November 20, a conference is taking place in Cahors with Jean-Charles Chapuzet, author (in French) of the story of the black wine of Cahors and Jeremy Arnaud, Marketing Director of the Vintners Organization of Cahors. It will be followed by  a tasting of the wines of Château Cantelauze, with the owner and wine maker Cecile Nomine.

Clos Triguedina - guest star of a dinner in Cork, Ireland

The Bubble Brothers Wine Store is located in Cork, Ireland. Julian, the blogger of the team, already posted on French Malbec and is following our efforts to promote this wonderful grape. That's why I wasn't surprised when I read on their blog their post on a dinner organized in Cork at Fenn's Quay Restaurant. The guests will be served several wines from this wonderful estate. The wines will be commented upon by Jean-Raymond Clarenc.

Cahors wines in London on January 9-11, 2009

The France Show in London features the French Malbec Cahors wines during their convention. There will be 6 tastings every day of 30 minutes each with 4 different wines each time. The attendance is limited to 102 people maximum for each session (registration fees).

Dec. 4-5, Bordeaux, international conference on South West strategy

On December 4 and 5, an international conference will take place in Bordeaux on the international strategy that should take place for wines facing globalization. Wines are very often considered as local products born on a terroir or as some researchers are now saying on territories. Is this idea still valid in our age of internationalization and globalization? How can local terroirs answer to the challenges of globalization?

Those questions will be answered by geographers from Europe, Australia or New Zealand, economists, experts in political sciences or marketing. Jeremy Arnaud, Marketing Director of the Professional Vintners Union of Cahors, will be moderating a session and speaking on December 5.
