Who does not know Gary Vaynerchuck and his Winelibrary TV shows? Gary is this young and outgoing wine guru who changed the way most people drink and enjoy wine who already presented Cahors wines on his show. In a long interview to the New Jersey Journal, Gary V (as everybody knows him by now) explains his wine philosophy:
"I have two rules. One, trust your own palate. Don’t listen to Robert Parker, Wine Spectator, or me, or anybody. If you like it, drink it, if you don’t like it, don’t. Number 2, try new things. So many people stick to the same three or four varieties: chardonnay, merlot, shiraz. What’s even worse than that is sticking with the same producers, Kendall Jackson, Yellow Tail, and then they just stay there. There’s a billion trillion different things to try. So that is really where I’m at."
Follow Gary's advice and enjoy the gems you'll discover by yourself!
The wines of Cahors are more and more appreciated on international markets. The exportations of our wines went up 6,3% during the first semester of 2008. It is a striking result when you consider that most other appellations are loosing market shares. Our strongest markets are Canada (44%), followed by Japan, UK, Denmark and China.
